We lost a great family friend this week, Miss Barb as my wife calls her. Miss Barb was perfectly healthy last year when she made her yearly visit to see my mom in central Florida. Miss Barb has been a lifelong friend with my mom and our family since I can remember, an RN just like my mom.
Even though my wife had only known Miss Barb a short time, she attended are wedding and she became an instant friend to her. Looking back on Miss Barb's visits up to are neck of the woods, we had the most fun when she and my mom came to visit. Two annual visits left us with great memories and we even had planned this year going to the Florida Keys. I know that trip would have been full of fun and memories. One memory I have is a trip we took to the funky seaport of Apalachicola. We had just ate at my favorite seafood restaurant and we all decided to walk around the town and to the port area. We came upon a shrimp boat and Miss Barb was all intrigued by seeing one in person. It was a sunny cool day and we also were all entertained by a boat that suddenly took off from the water and was now flying around in the cool brisk blue sky.
Miss Barb we will miss you but you will always be with us in memory and spirit.

My South Florida Adventure with BB, Part 2
Watching her transformation is like watching some kind of superhero, it can be exciting and fun. BB does seem to have some kind of power of making people smile and laugh as she is often greeted with many admirers and that is fun and gets the party started. BB dressed In pink, to honor the park's official colors, had her special made hat and she looked mystical and glamorous from a bygone era.
The Hialeah Park is steeped in history with old pictures of the power elite, like the Kennedys and Winston Churchill. The party was relaxed and there was some great food like coconut shrimp and wine. All the people behind "BlogginMamas" did a great job in promoting their great ideas including the leaders Heather and BB on their way to a great future.

My South Florida adventure with BB (Part 1)
I recently took a trip to Miami and from there went to Orlando. It all began taking a bus to Orlando and then made my way to the Miami International airport, my destination where my wife would meet me. I was coming from the Tallahassee area and it takes about 10 or 11 hours to get there. I have not taken a bus in a while and today there are many cheap fares, my total cost was less than $40. The bus ride was nice, sit back and enjoy the view, take a siesta and boom your there.
It was getting late and we pulled into Miami International airport, thinking I would be doing some walking to meet her but no, she met me as soon as I got off the bus. The adventure starts to really begin here. Now Miami has a decent mass transit system; Metro rail, buses that run pretty regularly, at least till 12pm. BB and me waited for the bus and the right one never showed, getting later and later. My wife or BB as she is known checked on the route and due to construction was all messed up. Now getting even later we were informed that we could catch the metro but it doesn't quite get to our destination, a hotel. So now it is after 12pm and no buses are running and we are stuck at the metro station. It is Miami and there was a front moving through bringing heavy rain. We are actually trying to get to our hotel which we would be staying and then going from there to attend my wife's big PR party at the beautiful and historical Hialeah park, the following day.
Well, BB is always prepared. and she tells me we can use "Lift" to get to the hotel. It is an app on your phone where someone who uses their own car comes and picks you up. Not so fast, the driver was foreign and BB kept trying to direct him in the pouring rain where exactly to meet us, BB kept calling him back saying "where are you", while both of us made dashes to different areas around the metro station to meet him in the pouring rain. By some miracle he finally shows up! Well we made it to the hotel late, slept over well and the unlimited breakfast bar at the hotel made us both forget about the previous night.

National Brush Day My First Social Good & Giveway
Sponsored
Bloggin' Mamas is supporting the Ad Council and The Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives (a coalition of more than 35 leading dental health organizations) by sharing the word about “National Brush Day.” National Brush Day is observed on November 1st, the day after Halloween, to reinforce the importance of children’s oral health and to promote good tooth-brushing habits recommended by dental experts. More than 51 million school hours are lost each year due to dental related illness, resulting in parents losing 25 million work hours annually. Cavities and oral infections can cause severe pain and can increase a child’s risk for dental issues and poor health throughout their lives. 3 in 4 parents report that their kids sometimes or frequently forget to brush their teeth, according to a national survey just released by the Ad Council. In an effort to help parents better understand why ignoring dental health can have serious consequences, and educate families about good dental health habits, the Ad Council and The Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives created new Public Service Ads (PSAs) for their Kids’ Healthy Mouths campaign. The new PSAs are humorous depictions of life lessons which make the point that while parenting can be tricky at times, getting kids to brush for two minutes, twice a day can be easier than most other things parents will try to teach their children. Visit 2min2x.org (which is available in English and Spanish, and includes a mobile version), where parents and children can watch entertaining videos—all 2 minutes in length—while brushing their teeth.
Have fun eating your candy but don't forget to take care of those chompers.

This is my initial blog about my life with my latin wife known to many as BohemianBabushka. I will be posting about my adventures with my wife on here as a newcomer to the latin culture and all the fun we have together. Below are some images of one of my favorite places I have visited with my wife, Little Havana in Miami where her grandma lives. This is a vibrant , colorful place jumping with art, music, restaurants, nightclubs, etc . all within walking distance. Oh and I can't tell how wonderful the smell of all the latin food and cigars mix with this funky place.
